( Definition of caption )
According to the Cambridge Academic Content Dictionary, caption is brief text over or under a picture in a book, magazine, or newspaper that describes the picture or explains what the people in it are doing or saying.
A caption is a short text above or below an image in a book, magazine, or newspaper that describes the image or explains what the person in it did or said.
While citing Vocabulary.com, a caption is a brief description accompanying an illustration. Caption is a short description that accompanies the illustration.
Caption in the form of additional information which is usually located under the image or photo. Usually the caption only consists of a few words or sentences.

Captions have a social function, namely to provide basic information about an object.
Even though it's short, writing a caption can't be arbitrary. It takes language that is interesting but still informative so that what is in the picture can be conveyed properly.

Captions are not written arbitrarily. There is a structure for writing captions so that what is in the picture is conveyed properly, namely:
- Opening
The opening is usually written in a larger size to attract the attention of the reader.
- Content
Content contains concise information to explain the image.
-Closing
The closing part is usually in the form of additional information that has not been conveyed in the content.

Caption text juga dapat tentang banjir. Nah, caption text dengan tema banjir dapat berupa ajakan untuk mencegah terjadinya banjir.
Selain itu, caption text juga bisa menjelaskan foto yang diambil saat banjir seperti kondisi air, korban, dan pemukiman saat musibah banjir. Berikut ini beberapa contoh dan artinya:
